Updated: 13 August 2008

The British Geriatrics Society process for the 2009 round of the Clinical Excellence Awards is now open

In order to comply with the requirements of ACCEA the Society must seek its candidates through self nomination.

All eligible Consultants are encouraged to apply for a BGS nomination and we will only consider applicants who send us completed Curriculum Vitae Questionnaires (Form A). If you are involved in teaching and training, download this supplementary form; if you are involved in research, download this supplementary form. Click here for more information on the BGS Assessment procedure. This year the deadline for the receipt of nominations is 29 August 2008.

In the past, Bronze, Silver and Gold candidates have been offered the opportunity to submit a supplementary form with their application instead of completing the corresponding domain on the application form.  These forms have been in the areas of Research/Innovation, and Teaching/Training and it has been left up to the applicant to choose which, if any, they wish to submit.

For the 2009 round a Management/Leadership form will be added to the selection.  The new arrangements are as follows:

Bronze or Silver candidates may choose to submit ONE of the supplementary forms below with their application form.

Gold candidates may choose to submit up to TWO of the forms below

Platinum candidates may choose to submit up to ALL THREE of the forms below

Curriculum Vitae Questionnaire
Teaching and Training Supplementary Form
Research Supplementary Form
Optional questionnaire for assessment of medical leadership

All intended applicants should read the latest information on the ACCEA website and consult the web site on a regular basis for updates.

In the autumn those who have been successfully chosen by the BGS for nomination will be invited to apply via the ACCEA web site for the 2009 round.

Applicants are asked to note that nomination by the BGS in one year does not automatically guaranteed nomination in the next year.

Please use your Regional Clinical Excellence Award Advisor for advice.

Members in Scotland and Northern Ireland will need to follow their local processes.

Applications need to reach Sarah Allport at the BGS Office by 29 August.
