The Department of Health has published the National Evaluation of the Partnerships for Older People Projects.
Alex Mair, British Geriatrics Society Chief Executive said: “The British Geriatrics Society is fully supportive of the development of integrated health and social care services which intervene early to maximize older people’s health, well-being and independence.  Our members are committed to working within multidisciplinary teams to provide personalised, appropriate and coordinated care.  Geriatricians working in partnership with other professionals at the interface between primary and secondary care, can intervene to provide timely comprehensive assessment of frail individuals and promptly attend to potentially modifiable or reversible underlying medical issues.   Not only can this approach improve health outcomes for these individuals, it can also improve their quality of life.”
