British Geriatrics Society On occasion, the BGS is asked to endorse professional material produced by outside organisations, BGS special interest groups or individuals. These guidelines are designed to cover all areas of the Society: National Councils (and where appropriate, Regions); Standing Committees; Special Interest Groups and Sections; ad hoc groups of members coming together to represent the Society or individual members (the group).
Assuming UKMC approve the request for involvement, work may commence on the project. Where an unnecessary delay would occur in obtaining UKMC approval before commencement on the work, then such approval can be sought using a UKMC email majority Appreciating that most projects will have a life-span of a few months, the CEO will be responsible for reporting to UKMC on each projects’ status Once complete, sign-off must be obtained from UKMC before endorsement can be considered In situations where formal UKMC sign-off is not possible (in order to meet some deadline etc), then an email sign-off with a majority in favour will suffice In no circumstances will any group be allowed to use the Society’s logo without having first obtained UKMC approval (whether at a meeting or via email). If this has not proven possible, any endorsement can only come from the relevant group working on the project. For example, “Endorsed by the XYZ Special Interest Group of the British Geriatrics Society”. Alex Mair |
