Education and Training

Welcome to the Education and Training pages of the BGS website. This is a new initiative created by the Education and Training Committee (ETC) to help all geriatricians and trainees work through the many changes currently occurring in specialist training. The rate of change has felt overwhelming for many (not least the number of new acronyms!) and this website should help with timely dissemination of information and sharing of queries and concerns.

The ETC work very closely with the Specialist Advisory Committee (SAC) in Geriatric Medicine. Many of the links will be to the appropriate pages of the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board website.

We include information on the curriculaassessments (including Knowledge-based assessement) and the eportfolio (likely to be introduced for Specialty Trainees in 2008). We aim to develop the site to share examples of good practice in training and reserach relevant to education.

We have a section on frequently asked questions and encourage trainers and trainees to submit questions. We ask for feedback from users so that we can continue to develop this resource for the benefit of all members.
