New IM curriculum: Trainees' feedback invited

Specialist Trainees may be aware of the new IM Curriculum which has:

1. a 3-year stage 1 post-foundation training consisting of 2-year “CMT” and 1-year GIM Registrar and;
2. a 4-year stage 2 training consisting of 4 years in Specialty and Internal medicine.

Full details here: https://www.jrcptb.org.uk/new-internal-medicine-curriculum

This curriculum has been approved by the General Medical Council and focusses on the achievement of high level capabilities in practice (CiPs). This new IM curriculum will be implemented in August 2019 and there will be no further recruitment to CMT.

We would appreciate the feedback of trainees: the pros and cons of this CiPs model, any suggestions for improvement and potential effects on minimum dedicated training time for those sub-specialising in stroke medicine and less than full time training programmes.

Kindly email your thoughts, views and suggestions to . We will discuss your opinions at the trainees' council meeting and raise them with relevant bodies.
