The BGS is inviting expressions of interest from BGS members to fill the vacancies of Deputy Media Digital Media Editor (deadline for applications Friday 6 April, midnight) and Vice President for Academic Affairs (deadline for applications, Friday, 20 April, midnight). Clinical Excellence Awards 2018

The next round of clinical excellence awards opens on the 13 February 2018.

All candidates seeking the support of the BGS are asked to complete the appropriate form(s) and submit these to the Society by 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday 6 March 2018. This is a finite deadline and we will be unable to accept forms after this date.

BGS Staff Vacancy

BMA Foundation for Medical Research Grants

The BMA Foundation for Medical Research Grants has published it list of available grants for 2018 (pdf). Each grant is around £50,000. Online applications will open on 1 January 2018  and close on 02 March 2018.

Doris Hillier – £50,000
To assist research into rheumatism and arthritis.
Applicants must be UK-registered medical practitioners and a member of the BMA.

T P Gunton – £50,000
To assist research into public health relating to cancer. Applicants must be UK-registered medical practitioners or research scientists working in the UK.

H C Roscoe – £50,000
To promote research into the elimination of the common cold and/or other viral diseases of the human respiratory system. Applicants must be UK-registered medical practitioners or research scientists working in the UK.

Helen H Lawson – £50,000
To promote research into novel technologies and/or organisational systems to assist in patient care, primary care or public health. 
Applicants must be UK-registered medical practitioners and a member of the BMA.

Dawkins and Strutt – £60,000
To assist research into multimorbidity in an ageing population.
Applicants must be UK registered medical practitioners or research scientists working in the UK. Projects must relate to the UK only.

Josephine Lansdell – £50,000
To assist research in the field of heart disease.
Applicants must be UK-registered medical practitioners and a member of the BMA.
