Encouraging high quality research
The BGS has, as one of its primary goals, the promotion of high quality research into the health and wellbeing of older people. To this end, it holds two international and interdisciplinary three-day conferences each year, along with smaller special interest events such as falls and postural health; continence; community geriatrics and more.

Encouraging and disseminating research is overseen by the Society's Research and Academic Committee. This body has produced and continues to develop resources for prospective and more experienced researcher. Grouped under the following sections are papers on:
