Ageing and Health at the University of Dundee focusses on pleiotropic interventions to improve health and function in older people. We focus on both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions (e.g. physical activity, vitamin D, vitamin K), with particular interests in sarcopenia, chronic kidney disease, and vascular disease including heart failure. Our work spans epidemiology including the use of routinely collected, linked datasets, mechanistic studies, and large-scale pragmatic trials. We have close links to NHS Tayside via the department of Medicine for the Elderly (based at the main Ninewells Hospital site, Perth Royal Infirmary, Royal Victoria Hospital as well as at community hospitals). We have thriving links with University of Dundee colleagues, particularly in Cardiovascular and Diabetes Medicine, Population Health Sciences, and the Tayside Clinical Trials Unit. We play a prominent role in delivery of innovative teaching to both undergraduate and postgraduate curricula, with a particular focus in 3rd and 4th year undergraduate education
