Why attend?

NHS Benchmarking Network are delighted to invite members of the British Geriatrics Society to attend the NHS Benchmarking Network’s annual benchmarking and good practice conference for Managing Frailty in the Acute Setting & Delayed Transfers of Care. The conference will take place on Thursday 7th February 2019 at etc. Venues, Monument, London.

NHS Benchmarking are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker will be Dr Adrian Hopper, Clinical Lead for the GIRFT Geriatric Medicine programme who will be discussing the recent collaboration with the NHs Benchmarking Network. Delegates will also hear the key findings from this year's Managing Frailty & DToC benchmarking project and from Network member organisations sharing good practice and innovation.

The NHS Benchmarking Network and the GIRFT Geriatric Medicine team have worked together on the 2018 Managing Frailty and DToC project to enable all providers of acute care where older people access their services to participate in the project regardless of Network membership. This has resulted in record sign up to the project and findings from 2018 cover 141 services. A total of 114 organisations have taken part.

The Managing Frailty and Delayed Transfers of Care in the Acute Setting project focuses on the pathway of frail older people through secondary care, from assessment in A&E, assessment units inpatient wards and supported discharge. The project also takes a deeper dive into the management of delayed transfers of care and reviews protocols, processes, local reporting and onward routes out of the hospital. The BGS has also worked with the NHS Benchmarking Network to develop a short service user audit which is included in the project.
