Dr Juliette Lewis
Role: Educational Meetings and Events Rep
To ensure content and the overall meeting covers trainees’ needs and remains appealing and accessible; to encourage participation from trainees - speaking, presenting abstracts, co-chairing sessions; to contribute towards social aspects of meetings and events; to help identify potential sponsors and keep the meeting viable.
BGS Trainee Council, Meetings and Events Committee meetings
Reason for joining:
I wanted the opportunity to represent the curriculum needs of trainees by becoming involved in the development, planning and organisation of BGS events. I think that there is scope to further inclusivity in events and meetings via options such as live-streaming at conferences, the incorporation of family-friendly spaces at meetings and by inviting a diverse group of speakers to both represent our workforce and enrich our learning.
Why get involved:
It is important to socialise outside of a work environment, both to relax and to forge even better working relationships. This role offers development of leadership skills, an insight into events management and the chance to help shape content in order to better meet trainees’ needs.
Term of office: 2 years
