Anthony Blackman

Anthony joined BGS in 2023 after spending 19 years working in the optical industry. His academic roles included being a university senior lecturer and programme director in Vision Science. After this he started his own training company, developing qualifications and online learning resources, which included CPD for professionals. Alongside this, he has had a portfolio of roles on the boards of various charities and membership bodies as a trustee, non-executive director and committee chair. He continues to carry out work for the awarding body NCFE, and for the General Optical Council.

Areas of responsibility

• Managing and expanding the BGS library of e-learning CPD modules
• Curating the BGS’s libraries of digital learning resources
• Attending BGS events and conferences, as part of the events team
• Assisting with the delivery of online events and webinars
• Supporting various BGS committees and Special Interest Groups
