I have been an active member of the BGS throughout my career, and this role presents an opportunity to continue to contribute to the Society’s work in a more strategic and policy-focused capacity. I am particularly interested in using this position to advance the policy agenda around dementia and neurodegenerative disease—areas I have been heavily involved with both clinically and academically.
My background is grounded in delivering care, conducting research, and advocating for older adults, particularly those living with cognitive impairment. I work as a Consultant in the Medicine of Older People at the Royal United Hospitals Bath and as Research and Medical Director of ReMindUK—an independent memory clinic and research charity rated 'Outstanding' by the CQC (https://www.reminduk.org/). In these roles I oversee a portfolio of clinical trials and non-commercial research focused on dementia and brain health. I am also Clinical Lead for Dementia at the RUH which greatly facilitates interface across the community–acute Trust boundary and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol.
I co-chair both the BGS and EuGMS Brain Health and Dementia Special Interest Groups, and I am a member of NHS England’s Dementia Steering Group.
