2026 Wales Autumn Meeting Programme

Dr Inderpal Singh OBE is a Consultant Geriatrician at Aneurin Bevan University Health Board and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Cardiff University. A recognised clinical leader in older people’s care, he has combined excellence in patient care, medical education and service improvement throughout his career.

Appointed National Clinical Lead for Wales in 2020, Dr Singh has led transformative work in osteoporosis and fracture prevention. He established the National Fracture Liaison Service (FLS) Development and Quality Assurance Group and chairs the National Bone Health Clinical Implementation Network. He organised Wales’ first national FLS Conference in 2022, followed by further national conferences in 2024 and 2026, helping to drive Wales’ achievement as the first UK nation to secure a Ministerial mandate for universal Fracture Liaison Services.
 

In 2026, he was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to osteoporosis care in Wales.

Dr Hewitt is a Clinical Reader at Cardiff University as well as an Associate Editor for the BGS's journal Age and Ageing
He is also Chair of Project Grant Awards, at The Stroke Association. His current research interests are primarily focused on Geriatric Conditions in Stroke

Dr Jelley is a consultant geriatrician, working in Cardiff and Vale UHB. His clinical interests are in stroke rehabilitation and acute management. He is the HCRW Speciality Lead for Ageing and locally am the research lead for Gerontology. He also works for Cardiff University as a Senior Clinical Lecturer and am Programme Director for the MSc Clinical Geriatrics.

Dr Shute is a consultant Physician & Geriatrician based in Cardiff and Vale University Health Board with a specialist interest in cognition. She is co-lead for the Cardiff and Vale memory team

Dr Davies currently works as clinical director for frailty in ABUHB a 'hospital at home' service, one of the clinical leads in Caerphilly borough and also hasinpatient COTE beds in YYF with specialist palliative beds included. She has a specialist continence clinic and am part of the GIM on-call rota. I have also just taken over as TPD for geriatric medicine in South Wales.

Siobhan is a consultant geriatrician at Cardiff and Vale UHB who spends her days in the emergency and acute medical unit supporting frail older patients through their journey in urgent care. She is co-Clinical Director for Clinical Gerontology at Cardiff and Vale and the lead for Frailty in Urgent Care.
She is the National Clinical Lead for Frailty for the NHS Wales 6 Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care programme. She has a particular interest in hospital associated deconditioning and is chair of the All Wales Preventing Deconditioning group. She and is actively involved in supporting hospitals in Wales to focus on minimising avoidable harm as a tool for improved patient flow

Dr Karl Davis graduated from Newcastle Medical School before working in Australia where his keen interest in geriatric care was reinforced. On Returning to the UK he worked in Teesside before moving to Derby where he was the first research fellow in the academic vascular unit.
His specialist training was undertaken in South Wales where he has remained as a Cardiff based consultant and is AMD for education & training. In additional to his clinical role he is an Hon Senior Lecturer for Cardiff University and elected council member at thr RCP.
