Abstract:
The National Audit of Dementia (NAD) is a clinical audit programme commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership on behalf of NHS England and the Welsh Government, looking at the quality of care received by people living with dementia in different healthcare settings. We measure the performance of general hospitals and memory assessment services in England and Wales against standards relating to care delivery which are known to impact people with dementia while in hospital. Since 2010 we have produced national, local and hospital reports for clinicians, people with dementia, those involved with commissioning care and those who regulate care. We discuss how this approach, based on real-world data can improve care and support for people living with dementia, and their families and carers.
