The BGS welcomes this next stage in the Government’s plans to eradicate corridor care.
Older people are the population group most likely to face long waits and treatment in corridors and are most likely to experience worse outcomes following a lengthy wait. Trusts must be supported to make changes across the whole patient pathway to ensure that corridor care is relegated to the history books. We hope that these measures will ensure that services are able to make changes over the summer so that by next winter, older people will be able to get the care they need in safe, dignified environments.
