Dr Alison Falconer

Chair, BGS Scotland Council
Alison

Alison Falconer is a consultant geriatrician based at University Hospital Wishaw NHS Lanarkshire. She has been a consultant for 12 years.  Alison is the lead for ortho-geriatrics at University Hospital Wishaw and is striving to improve patient care within a very busy trauma unit. She has also been leading on the establishment of a frailty unit at her hospital that is due to open on 1st December 2035. Her other areas of clinical interest are hospital at home and intermediate care.

Despite a very busy clinical role she is also deputy chief of medical services for her hospital site which she feels has been useful in advocating for better care for older adults across the site and across the organisation.

Alison is also keen that in her leadership role she can develop a unit that creates a learning experience for resident doctors that encourages them to think of a career in geriatric medicine.

Outside work she likes to travel  and enjoy good food - cooking it and tasting others cooking.
