Dr Fiona Hansell

I am a Consultant Geriatrician at Peterborough City Hospital (North West Anglia Foundation Trust). I have had strong ties to the East of England since starting medical school at the University of Cambridge. Although I left the region temporarily, I couldn’t resist returning for higher specialty training and have been here ever since.

I have a subspecialty interest in orthogeriatrics and bone health, and I am currently overhauling the fracture liaison service at our trust. I also have a background in medical leadership.

I have always enjoyed the exchange of ideas and learning that comes from BGS events and I want us to be able to showcase the best that the East of England has to offer. We are a large and diverse region with so many different models of service and our MDTs are increasingly moving away from a doctor-centric, secondary care model. I want the BGS of the future to shine a spotlight on learning from and with Allied Health Professionals, from non-hospital provision of services and for the Eastern Region to lead the way in this regard.
