Dr James Fisher

I’m a consultant geriatrician at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where I’m responsible for the Movement Disorders service for the North and Central Northumberland area.

I took on the role of Digital Media Editor for the BGS in early 2018. I can be contacted with any queries in relation to our blog or other digital media output. I’m also active on Twitter using the handle @drjimbofish

During my specialty training I completed an MD in Parkinson’s disease-related research and I’m still involved with research through contribution to the delivery of Parkinson’s-related studies running in our trust.

My other big interest is medical education and I’m a senior lecturer at Newcastle University. Encouraging interest and uptake into the specialty of geriatric medicine is a passion of mine and I’m proud to have co-founded the Association for Elderly Medicine Education (aeme.org.uk).
