About Me:

I am an ST4 Registrar in the West Yorkshire Deanery, currently working in Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust. I have just had a year out of training, within which I worked in acute and emergency medicine, followed by a post at a Sue Ryder hospice, which was truly formative. The rest of my time was filled with travelling, hiking with my dog in the Yorkshire Dales and planning a wedding! I am excited to get back into training, and into a specialty I have always been very passionate about.

Reason for joining the BGS Trainee’s Council:

I have always loved older people’s medicine, including the complexity of multi-morbidity and the evident pragmatism displayed when making decisions about the person as a whole and not the organ or system at hand.

I believe we have a good opportunity to excite medical students and junior resident doctors about the future of Geriatric Medicine and hopefully, through enhancing our presence on social media, we nurture new holistic generations of doctors and improve recruitment into our workforce!

Why trainees should get involved with the committee:

It is a great opportunity to meet people who are equally as passionate about older people’s medicine, and to provide a better insight into how training and patient care is developed.
