Ragy is a mixed methods researcher who focuses on physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep in older adults. He holds a First Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin (2019), a Research Masters from Trinity College Dublin (2020) and a White Rose Network funded PhD from the University of Leeds (2024). He completed his doctoral work in the Academic Unit for Ageing & Stroke Research which focused on developing and evaluating an intervention to reduce sedentary behaviour in community-dwelling older adults. During his time in Leeds, he was appointed to the Yorkshire Consortium for Equity in Doctoral Education (YCEDE) Scholars Board, which aims to improve diversity, and inclusion in doctoral education for BAME students.
Ragy has worked as a Research Associate at the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit at the University of Glasgow on the PACES (Physical Activity, Social Connectedness, and Healthy Ageing Study). He joined King's College London in July 2025 as a Better Health & Care Hub Fellow, where he is exploring physical inactivity in the Arab older adult community in the United Kingdom.
