Dr Scott Mather
I am a Consultant Geriatrician at Manchester Royal Infirmary and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Salford, supporting the Geriatric Medicine MSc. I am passionate about supporting geriatric medicine registrars’ education and development, and about building inclusive, engaged clinical teams.
My leadership journey began as one of the UK’s first RCP Chief Registrars, and I have since undertaken formal leadership training through the Pearson Leadership Programme, the RCP, and Edge Hill University. I currently serve as Clinical Director for Ageing and Complex Care at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, where I have led significant service transformation across frailty, stroke, movement disorders, and falls services, delivering sustained improvements in access, patient flow, and patient experience.
In my role at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, I co-chair the Frailty Collaborative and co-chair the Trust Dementia Steering Group, working closely with clinical, digital, and strategy colleagues to deliver data-driven improvement. I have led the development of nationally recognised frailty SDEC services and pioneered delirium digital pathways alongside the use of digital dashboards to support quality, safety, and flow.
