Your role in the committee
Represent trainees from Wales at the BGS Trainees committee
Feedback to both trainees and the BGS trainees committee any issues that affect training in Wales
BGS Trainee’s Committee representation (Internal & external meetings):
Internal: BGS Trainees council meetings, BGS Trainees update meeting at biannual BGS meetings and Annual trainees weekend
External: Geriatric medicine wales STC meetings (twice a year), Wales Deanery ‘Trainee Matters’ meeting (annually), Wales Deanery ‘Training Leads Forum” (twice a year)
Reason for joining the BGS Trainees’ Committee:
I want to represent the trainees of Wales and to be an advocate for our local LTFT trainees at a national level
Ensure trainees in Wales remain up to date with issues related to training
Maximise training and research opportunities available to Welsh trainees
Why should juniors should get involved with the committee?
A chance to take an active role in the future shape of training in Geriatric Medicine
Provides a platform for local issues to be discussed at a national level
Excellent leadership experience
Length of committee position: 2 years
