Laura Pugh

Dr Laura Pugh gained her CCT in February 2023 and is a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine in the East Midlands. Becoming a consultant gave Laura a renewed enthusiasm and belief that positive change can be created within our profession, and the wider healthcare system. She joined the committee for three reasons:

‘I want to challenge discrimination in the workplace, in all its forms. In my role as a Supervisor, I want to better understand differential attainment and how it affects my trainees. As an advocate for my patients I want to tackle the stereotyping that they face, and promote the diversity of our patient group, removing barriers that they face day to day.’

Laura is also the East Midlands Representative on the RCP New Consultant Committee.
