New Microlearning: Oral Health in Older People

We are pleased to announce a new addition to our microlearning library: Oral Health in Older People is now available.

The British Geriatrics Society is delighted to have worked with the British Society of Gerodontology to bring this new microlearning course to life.

This course, which is free for BGS members, underscores the vital role of oral health in older adults, equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to improve patient outcomes. It emphasises risk factors, preventive care, and the importance of integrating oral health into daily routines.

Topics covered include:

  • Recognise common risk factors
  • Understand how cognitive, physical, and medical conditions impact oral health in older adults
  • Promote preventive care, and advocate for daily oral hygiene practices
  • Support denture care

By applying these strategies, healthcare professionals can significantly enhance older people's quality of life through improved oral health.

To accompany this microlearning course, there is a webinar, Oral Health in Care Settings, taking place on 16 April 2026, which will be available to watch back for six months afterwards.  This webinar is free to BGS members and at a small charge of £15 for non-members.
