Nominations open: BGS President Elect

Would you like to be President of the BGS?

Every two years the BGS holds an election to enable members to vote for a new President Elect. We are now opening the call for candidates interested in becoming the next President Elect of the BGS.

Putting yourself forward for this important role offers a wonderful opportunity to lead and represent the BGS and help shape the care of older people at a national level.

In November 2026, Professor Jugdeep Dhesi will finish her term as President, and Dr Amit Arora will begin his Presidential term. The new President Elect will take up their role on the same day and become President in November 2028 for a further two years.

Any BGS member based in the UK can nominate themselves for this role by providing a personal statement of up to 400 words and support from five current BGS members. The deadline for self-nominations is 5pm Monday 25 May 2026, and you can find out more about the role and the process here.

Once we have our candidates, we will be in touch again with a link to vote, which you will be able to do online, between 9 am 22 June and 9 am 23 July 2026.
