Background and context
The British Geriatrics Society (BGS) is advertising for a healthcare professional to support the development of new microlearning content focused on healthcare in the community and preventative care.
In 2025, the BGS launched its first microlearning courses to complement our much larger elearning courses. These microlearning courses are designed to be introductions to subject areas, mostly for those working at tier 1 and 2.
The work would be undertaken in coordination with the BGS’s Digital Education Manager and supported by BGS Healthcare in the community special interest group. You do not need to be an elearning expert to apply for this exciting role.

The role
The post will be for the duration of the project, which is provisionally estimated to be a minimum of 3 months' work from initiation to delivery. The Clinical Fellow will need to ensure there is sufficient time available from their current role or training (approx. 1 day a week).
They may be from any profession involved in delivering healthcare to older people and must be experienced in delivering community-based services to older people.
Role purpose
The Clinical Fellows will lead the development of the microlearning, directly delivering many of the activities and supporting/coordinating the work of others, all under the project goal of delivering interactive microlearning courses for a multi-disciplinary Tier 2 audience.
Essential skills and experience required
- A minimum 14 days time commitment, spread across 3 months and flexibly across the project
- An interest in improving the quality of education available to those healthcare professionals working with older people
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to manage projects and to drive progress
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Initiative and good organisational skills
- Experience of working collaboratively, inclusively and respectfully with colleagues
- Problem-solving, adaptability and creativity
- Applicants should be a member of the BGS or willing to join
You do not have to be an elearning expert to apply for this role.
Desirable skills and experience
- Experience leading or contributing to a Quality Improvement or research project
- Experience of working with intermediate and community care teams to deliver care in different settings
- Familiarity with BGS and other resources relevant to rehabilitation services for older people
- Prior experience in developing educational content
Funding
The total remuneration for this work will be £2,000.
This will be paid to the Clinical Fellow in instalments, as key project milestones are met.
