BGS region and joint meetings cancellation information

To adapt to the current world, BGS meetings are virtual events to the end of 2020. The meeting programmes will change for effective online delivery. We plan to ensure engagement tools with the content, and between all attendees. Updates will follow on each meeting page. You can access them via BGS Events.

Abstracts submission

The BGS is accepting abstract submissions for future meetings. There is a call for COVID19 related submissions. Assessors will review abstracts online. Accepted posters are presented on the BGS website and virtually during the conferences. The Autumn 2020 meeting posters will be included in our Age and Ageing supplement. Please submit via our abstracts portal.

CPD accreditation for Virtual Events

Participants watching a live webinar must sign in with their full name when joining via a web browser or use a personal MS Teams account. If participants join live using a shared work account or viewing as a group they must contact us before the end of the live webinar to record attendance.This should be by email with their full name, email address and place of work to registrations [at] bgs [dot] org [dot] uk . Participants must register before the live webinar starts to claim CPD credits.

We cannot send CPD certificates to participants who haven't registered in advance.

Participants accessing the archived version of the webinar may record this in their CPD diary using the approval code provided for the live event for up to four weeks after the event date.

What happens to my registration fee?


We will refund the difference between the price paid and the virtual meeting fees.
If you would like to request a refund instead, please email registrations [at] bgs [dot] org [dot] uk but please allow 10 working days for us to get back to you. We will refund your registrations in full, where needed. Please consult our terms and conditions here under clause 8.

Will the costs of my prearranged travel and accommodation still be reimbursed?

Please check with your travel company and accommodation provider if refunds are possible. Unfortunately, we cannot be responsible for travel and accommodation costs you may have already incurred; we regret that these costs are outside of our control.
