BGS Rising Star Awards 2026: Applications open

Applications are now open for the British Geriatrics Society’s Rising Star Awards.

These prestigious awards recognise individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to the healthcare of older people early in their careers, and who show potential to become future leaders in the field.

There are three Rising Star Awards:

Rising Star Award for Research – recognising research that has translated, or is being translated, into improvements in the care of older people.

Rising Star Award for Clinical Quality – recognising quality improvement work that demonstrates improved care for older people.

Rising Star Award for Research (Nurses & Allied Health Professionals) – recognising nurses and AHPs who have undertaken research that has translated or will translate into improvements in the care of older people.

The awards are open to eligible BGS members within 15 years, or the pro-rata equivalent, of graduation from medical school or their first relevant degree. Each award includes a £250 cash prize.

Applications close on Friday 16 October 2026.
