Visual Impairment in a Clinic Setting: Microlearning

Course Overview

This short CPD course follows the journey of a patient as he attends a routine outpatient appointment. However, this could be an appointment in any healthcare setting, such as in the community.

There are over 2 million people with sight loss in the UK, and this number is expected to double by 2050. The majority of these people are aged 65 and over (RNIB data).

During the elearning, you will hear the words from a real patient and it will highlight some areas where visually impaired people can face challenges attending appointments. 

Target Audience: Anyone who sees older people in a clinic setting.

How to access this microlearning

Once registered, you can immediately access the course. If you wish to come back and take the course later, you can do so by logging into your BGS website account.
  • Click on 'My account' at the top right corner of the page and then select the 'CPD and certificates' button (on the right hand side).
  • You will be able to see all registered courses which are currently running.
