2026 Spring Meeting

The BGS Spring Meeting will cover the latest scientific research and the best clinical practice in the care of older people. The challenge of caring for larger numbers of older people both in and out of hospitals is everybody in the NHS's concern. This conference will cover core areas of interest to all responsible for the healthcare of older people.

Programme themes:

This conference will cover core areas of interest to all specialists responsible for the healthcare of older people with a particular focus on:

  • Frailty and Sarcopenia
  • Continence
  • Demographic trends
  • Coroner's Court

  • All consultants, nurses and allied healthcare professionals with an interest in the healthcare of older people
  • Especially those working in
    • geriatric medicine
    • acute/general medicine
    • frailty
  • GPs with an extended role in older people and GP trainees
  • Advanced and specialist practitioners, Consultant practitioners/consultant nurses
  • Pharmacists and pharmacy professionals 
  • Medical, nursing, allied health professional students
  • Researchers into ageing and age-related conditions

Grants to attend: In person or online

Members in Category B, C and D are now eligible to apply for a new BGS event grant. This will cover the registration cost for a BGS conference, either virtually or in person. Applications can be submitted from the event registration page, and should be requested and approved before completing registration.

There is no difference in registration fees for in person and online meeting attendance. The registration fee provides access to the conference or online platform for the days you are registered. On demand viewing post event will be limited to the days for which you have registered and paid.

There is a flexible transfer from in person to online attendance as clinical service and life balance require. Please check our FAQs first for any queries you may have about attendance or on demand watching.

Call for research symposia proposals


Submit your proposal for a research symposium at the 2026 Spring Meeting.

Research teams wishing to deliver a symposia can submit a symposium proposal by 5pm 30 November 2025
The symposium would be 60 mins in length.
Proposals must consist of an application sent by email outlining:
 

  • A 300 word symposium abstract
  • Speakers and chair (minimum 3 speakers) with 100 word biographies
  • Titles and 100 word summaries for each individual talk
  • A 150 word statement on why the proposed symposium will be of relevance to BGS members and the conference attendees
