#BGSFairCare: Our supporters
A number of organisations have spoken out in support of our #BGSFairCare campaign and shared why they feel this issue is so important
Royal College of Physicians
Andrew Goddard, President of the Royal College of Physicians, said:
"COVID-19 has hit older people harder than most, in terms of both the disease itself and the socioeconomic measures to curb it. "The measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable members and, while not all older people fall into that category, we must do better by them in the second wave than we did in the first." |

National Care Forum
Vic Rayner, Executive Director of the National Care Forum, said:
"The National Care Forum is hugely supportive of the campaign to protect older people during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that is being led by the British Geriatrics Society. It is absolutely essential that the lessons from Wave 1 are recognised, given the impact that COVID-19 had on our most vulnerable older people within care homes and across our communities. "As we face wave two of COVID, the government must guard against any ageism in the policy making and support for older people to ensure the individual needs of older people are at the heart of policymaking, whether they are in living in care homes or in the wider community. And the time has surely come to invest properly in our amazing social care workforce, with the proper pay and status that they deserve."
