BGS Trainees' Resource: Mock Specialty Certificate Exams (SCE)

The SCE in geriatric medicine is a postgraduate qualification which demonstrates to prospective employers, achievement of a standard required of UK specialist trainees. According to the Royal College of Physicians, the certificate is to ensure that certified specialists have sufficient knowledge of their specialty to practice safely and competently as consultants and to provide a rigorous national assessment to establish public confidence.

The decision to move MRCP(UK) Part 1, Part 2 and SCE examinations from remote online proctored delivery (ROP) back to in centre has now been communicated on the Federation website: https://www.thefederation.uk/news/delivery-mrcpuk-written-examinations-and-sces-2026
